Head of Talent Programmes and Development

Six different automotive brands. Group Functions. Trade Parts specialists.

At Volkswagen Group UK, we employ over 900 people, supporting a network of more than 600 retailers, and we manage all aspects of vehicle sales for our six brands, from ordering to importing, and advertising to aftersales.

What really sets us apart is how we work – not how many vehicles we sell. Our people have a true passion for what they do, a genuine desire to go further for customers and to give their own careers real momentum at the same time, in an industry that is changing fast to become electrified, digital, and connected. It takes a diverse range of teams to make us successful, but we all share the same aim: to deliver sustainable, profitable growth, drive up market share, improve customer satisfaction, and strive to be the best employer in the automotive sector. Our strategy of "Shaping mobility - for generations to come” is providing answers to the challenges of today and tomorrow with our  TOGETHER 2025+ Group strategy. To achieve sustainable success, we need skilled and dedicated employees. We aim to foster their satisfaction and motivation by means of equal opportunities, an attractive and modern working environment, and a forward-looking organisation of work.

We have an exciting new opportunity to join our HR team as Head of Talent Programmes and Development on a part time 6 month basis. Our HR team is the beating heart of the business, we're a commercial business partner that ensures each brand and group function puts people first.

Reporting into the HR Director, you'll lead and provide strategic direction for the organisations talent and development initiatives to enable our leaders and people to perform at their very best. You'll lead the development of top talent within the business to deliver a strong succession pipeline. Managing the talent and learning development team, you will direct and support the delivery of wide ranging training interventions for the Group, alongside designing and implementing programmes in line with VWGUK strategy and our people strategy. You'll be responsible for creating tactical plans aligning talent and development programmes whilst influencing Directors and senior management to ensure effective implementation of L&D and Talent strategies. You will also support and direct our Employee Forum to promote employee feedback and engagement topics.

Your role will be a strategic influencer in driving our People Strategy. You'll enjoy a big challenge and thinking of new innovative ways to design and offer talent programmes and development solutions. As part of the senior leadership team, you'll work closely with your colleagues and with the wider HR team. You must enjoy working in a collaborative close-knit community! You'll have a real opportunity to make a difference to our business, we're growing, we're changing and we're innovating.

We have a unique culture, built on diversity, difference and a determination to succeed that inspires us all. Across our brands and group functions, we are striving to learn from each other, encourage each other and regularly challenge each other to think differently. Our people have a true passion for what they do, a genuine desire to go further for customers and to give their own careers real momentum at the same time.
